Gemotions

The rain pattered gently against the glass of the greenhouse. Olivia, her hands dusted with soil, surveyed her thriving tomato plants. The scent of damp earth and greenery filled the air, a fragrance that always centered her. She enjoyed the solitude.

A package arrived, small and square. She hadn't ordered anything. Inside was a leather-bound journal and a letter. The handwriting was instantly recognizable. The letter was a long overdue explanation.

She ran her fingers over the smooth surface of the journal. Then, she walked out into the rain. She felt a lightness, as though a heavy burden had been lifted. She returned to her tomatoes.
